Graduates’ test on pre-writing and pre-mathematic at village pre-school in Kandal and Takeo province

Every year, August is the test season for children who become six years old, and will graduate from village pre-school. To be sure that they are ready for going to primary school or not, they need to be evaluated their ability and development during study at village pre-school. The evaluated test is focused mainly on pre-writing, 33 Khmer consonants and number from 1 to 11.

The test was conducted separately by CYK’s childcare advisor, childcare assistants and teachers for each child, one by one at each pre-school. The consonant poster and card and number card was used for this test. When the children cannot read the consonant or number, they would be reminded by raising some examples concerning with those consonant or number.

In November 2016, total 89 children will be graduated from 9 village pre-school in Kandal and Takeo province. According to the test result, most of children know well all 33 consonants and 11 numbers, 1-11. We observed that those children have enough capacity to go to primary school and teachers are happy to see these results.
